Just found out while we were sitting here that we have a second appointment tomorrow (Thursday) at 2:00. Konstantin sems to think this is good. I am not so sure.
There was no word Monday about a second appointment and so we met Konstantine yesterday (Tuesday) at the SDA to see if they knew anything else. When we left there at 5:00 there was no word. But at 12:30 today he called to tell us we have an appointment for tomorrow. He also told us yesterday that there were 100 couples waiting for a second appointment. I do not think that says anything good about their process and worries me more than a bit about the selection of referrals we may receive. Still hope prevails!
On another topic - Joe went in to the INC office here in Kiev yesterday and worked for several hours. It was good for him to visit and he took some INC goodies with him.

What a good turn of events! This is one more step forward through all the red tape. I hope that you stay patient and positive, and eventually good things will happen. We love you!
I love reading your updates. What an ordeal, but I imagine it will be a faint memory once you see the smile of your little one.
Wishing you a swift, happy ending to this adventure!
Emily
I'm waiting somewhat patiently -- hope you had lots and lots of luck with the second appointment.
Joe & Tonya,
When I saw your photo on your blog I almost fell out of my chair. We were right at the SDA on Thursday at 2pm with you. You were standing in line behind us. When I heard you speaking English I was going to introduce us but then we got called in and shortly after so did you. You were still reviewing referrals when we left the office.
Amazingly, we also saw Bogdana and Yvanca just yesterday (Friday); they are the referral that we accepted on Thursday. We also rejected the referral but are stuck in Khminsky (sp?) until Monday. We say the same about the girls that you did; their medical issues far exceeded what was on their files. We were also told by the SDA that we are the FIRST to visit them, only to read your blog a day later and find that you just saw them last week. Chalk up another accuracy for the SDA.
We are ready to go home but know that if we do not try for a 3rd appointment, we will never forgive ourselves. So we'll be back waiting in Kiev starting on Monday. But we're fried. Emotionally. Financially. You name-it-ally. We're fried!
Good luck and God bless. Pray that none of us go home empty handed.
Steve

Daffodils and puppy dogs,

PS Seriously, we concluded that it was come combination of great luck you were having (too busy to write) and Easter.
I'm sitting here, eating oyster crackers and pondering this whole thing...
My musings would be better inspired with a Wendy's Premium Fish Fillet. Oh, yes. That is bliss... Have I mentioned my deep affection for that particular culinary masterpiece? Happy times, happy times...
Is there anything that you need done whilst you are away? I can take my mower to your house and trim the grass if that would help.
Feel somewhat grateful that you don't have to hear the political bickering back here in the states. Embrace your wi-fi cafe of ill repute and use it frequently! I know we all love getting the updates as we wish we could be there with you.
Keep your faith, patience and grace. You'll need it on some days of parenthood. :)
